Distance Measuring
Distance Measuring is done in a number of different ways mostly through an analog signal based on a target's distance from the sensing device. It is done both mechanically with a transducer or encoder and electrically with Photoelectric, inductive, and ultrasonic sensors.

Balluff Micropulse Linear Position TransducersBalluff Micropulse linear position transducers provide highly accurate and reliable position control signals. Balluff's non-contact magnetostrictive technology means performance does not degrade over time, as with linear potentiometers. Micropulse transducers are available with a variety of housing styles and electrical outputs to fit a wide range of applications and are very popular in the lumber industry, plastic injection and blow molding, tire and rubber manufacturing, stamping presses, die casting, and all types of automated machinery where a continuous, absolute position signal is required.

Baumer OHDK14 Background Suppression LasersDiffuse sensors with background or foreground suppression which work with triangulation do not only sense the light reflected from the target, but also sense the distance of the object to the sensor. Within the fully adjustable distance, objects which are at least as big as the diameter of the light beam are recognized independently of color and surface properties.

Baumer OADM 20 Analog LasersThe compact laser distance sensors provide a precise output signal which is proportional to the measured distance. The optical principle is based on triangulation. Measuring ranges from 30 to 1000 mm, resolution up to 5 μm, and IP67 rated.

Baumer UNDK 20 Analog Ultrasonic SensorsThe compact ultrasonic distance sensors provide a precise output signal which is proportional to the measured distance. Good for use on liquids and clear objects. With a sensing distance of up to 1000mm and a resolution of 0.3mm this is a great option for many basic and advanced distance measuring applications.
